I did my PhD at JILA working on optical lattice clocks for studying quantum metrology. In the Ketterle lab, I downsized in valence electrons (and lasers to lock) and am studying quantum optics with Rb atoms in a new microscope experiment on BEC4.

I am a graduate student in BEC5 where we work on quantum simulation with ultracold lithium in optical lattices. I received my undergraduate degree in mathematical physics at the University of Waterloo where I worked at the Jamison lab on the lithium-cesium mixtures experiment. When I’m not doing physics, I like to compose music and photograph nature!

Zitian did her undergrad at Caltech, where she worked with Nick Hutzler on helium dynamics and on radium and RaOH spectroscopy in a cryogenic buffer gas cell. Inspired by Wolfgang’s vision to make “molecules” through magnetic interaction, she joined Dypole in 2024. Outside of physics, Zitian enjoys reading, traveling, running, and good food.
